A Closer Look at the First Ever 2016 Mazda CX-3 Small Crossover
As the fifth model in Mazda’s award-winning line-up of new-generation Skyactiv vehicles, the Canadian launch of the 2016 Mazda CX-3 has arrived. Created to meet the needs of the budding Sub-Compact SUV segment, the CX-3 will deliver a combination of functionality, style and efficiency that is currently absent in this emerging market.
Much like Mazda’s award-winning Mazda3 sedan and hatchback, the CX-3 incorporates the KODO Soul of Motion design language, combining power and beauty at every curve. The front end of this small crossover features a long, low hood that flows into the road ahead, with the rear body offering stylish proportions while conveying strength and power to support its sporty front.
Unlike most other Sub-Compact SUV’s, however, the CX-3 provides a sophisticated and high-quality interior to match its exterior design. It combines style and safety with a driver-oriented display and control system, providing an effortless driving experience. This includes a center display monitor with a central control system and the Active Driving Display.
As far as driving performance, Mazda has outdone itself yet again, with the CX-3 offering smooth handling and effortless response to each individual driver. The award-winning Skyactiv technology has been incorporated to deliver powerful performance and fuel efficiency. It is equipped with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre gasoline engine yielding 146 hp and has also introduced a new-generation AWD system with active torque control and stability. The light weight of the CX-3 also improves agility, acceleration, road handling and of course, gas mileage.
Starting at $20,695, the first ever 2016 Mazda CX-3 will be offered in three trim levels – GX, GS and GT. It is the third model in Mazda’s crossover line-up, and looks to be the standard upon which all other vehicles in this segment will be held to.
